“Camp Butterfly's mission is to provide a safe haven for girls of African descent to transform and empower their lives through our one-week sleep away camp experience and our year-round activities. Thus positively impacting the future of our families, communities and the world as we strive to “transform the world, one girl at a time.”

"We hope to foster a dedication to service and emotional healing as we prepare our girls to participate in a global village.”

Using the metamorphosis of a butterfly as an analogy for a girl's development from childhood to womanhood, Camp Butterfly introduces the importance of defining a mission in the lives of young female adolescents, particularly as mission relates to moral and civic development along with positive cultural and feminine identity.

Our Main Objectives:

• Foster problem solving skills
• To encourage each girl's development: mentally, physically,
emotionally and spiritually
• Promote positive self-esteem
• Promote alternative resolutions of conflict
• Provide positive role models

• Enhance Team Building skills
• Stimulate and strengthen leadership skills and a sense of independence

Some Additional Benefits:

• Developing skills enabling teen girls to increase
their academic and professional goals.
• To help clarify personal goals, artistic interests
and talents.
• Participation in building a supportive, wholistic, empowered
and creative community.
• Skills to help foster positive communications and
interactions through creativity.
